Quilting— The early years

So Bee and I finally had our first quiting session. We got my fabric and came up with a design. She also taught me how to cut the pieces. So my homework is to cut all of the pieces and we can start sewing next week.

The Design:

A nod to the college years

So I am starting up my second print exchange. In May/June of last year, I held a printmaking postcard exchange. I am excited to do it again and I hope I get a bigger turnout than last year.

Waste of Cakes

So...another friend of mine is getting married. She is having a small ceremony and dinner followed by a big reception next month. My girlfriend had offered to take on the task of making a wedding cake for the small dinner. When I found out about(what quickly became) our task, I squealed like a pig. There is only one show on the food network that I ever watch, ACE OF CAKES. This is a show based around Charm City Cakes, a business that creates AWESOME cakes out of fondat. I sit and watch this show thinking every five minutes "I could DO that!" So I am doing it! I enlisted my friend Tessie in the sculpting of the pieces for this beach-themed wedding cake.

Another quilting delay

My friend Bee and I have been trying to arrange quilting lessons for some time now. I designed the save the date and invitations for her wedding last month in exchange for the lessons. But for the longest time we had to put it off until after the wedding. Then I was swamped with work. Today was supposed to be our first afternoon quilting together, but she had a family emergency. buh buh buhhhhhhhhhh.

Never-the-less, I believe that I have picked the pattern for the quilt I will be doing.

It wont look exactly like this. I am thinking I will use colors that are close in shade and low-intensity. My inspiration for this are the awesome subway tiles I have been seeing in kitchens lately.
